Choosing An Agent

Category: Res RE - More Info

Your real estate agent is the professional on your home-buying team that will help you find the right home for you, advise you as to price and value, and help you with numerous other tasks throughout the process, such as the home inspection and serving as a resource to your attorney in negotiating the Purchase & Sale Agreement.

A good real estate agent should have a thorough working knowledge of the area and community where you are considering purchasing your new home. Real estate agents that focus on their local communities visit all the new listings in their area regularly, and they have an intimate knowledge of all inventory available and how it compares in terms of price and quality to the competition. They also understand the schools, shops and unique local issues that might affect the neighborhood and community you are considering. However, witht he advancement of technology, agents are now able to cover a larger geographic region than in the past.

Most real estate agents have working relationships with attorneys and mortgage brokers to whom they will often refer you. Most of these professionals are competent and well qualified, but you may also want to to do a little shopping around to satisfy yourself. Remember that your real estate attorney represents you, and it is your right to choose the attorney that will represent you in this important transaction.
